RPM: Beane Noodler

“I’m a graphic designer by day, DJ and promoter by night who with friends puts on the long running Nottingham party Soul Buggin’,  Nottingham’s best little dark room disco.

I also broadcast the Noodle Hotpot Show on MyhouseYourhouse radio, mixing up everything from beardy balearic nonsense to boogie, disco not disco, house, broken beats, hip hop, soul, jazz, techno, afrobeat, latin and beyond. Now in it’s 17th year and still going strong.”

Each week we will be taking a dip into the crates and minds of some of the digging scenes most prolific collectors.

🤔 Who should be on the next RPM feature?

Name one institution that changed your life musically, and why?

“The Bomb, Nottingham. The best club I’ve ever been to. A magical underground oasis that played host to some of the best djs in the world. It was also the venue where I plucked up the courage to put on my first night called “Noodles” some 20 years ago. I was shitting bricks playing the main room for a 3 hour set but the night was an outstanding success and gave me the fire in my belly to get into the promotional game.”

Favourite record labels of all time?

“2000 Black, Eglo, Salsoul, Apron, Noid, TK Disco, Good Looking, Metalheadz, MAW and a zillion others”

Number one guilty pleasure record…

“Dennis Waterman – I Could Be So Good For You.

…It’s a banger, and you know it, so don’t argue.”

Name a song to soundtrack the sunshine.

“Warp 69 – Natural High (Global Communication remix)

Best listened to in the bath. Floats along just nicely.’

What is one of your favourite pieces of sleeve art, and why?

“Jeff Wayne’s – “War of the Worlds”

The charity shop classic. Every home had one in the late 70’s. Absolutely trillions pressed up but the artwork is incredible. The illustrator did a booklet that came with the album that is truly nightmare-ish when reading while listening to Richard Burton narrate HG Well’s sci-fi masterpiece.”
