One record that sums up your happiest memories and where does it take you back to?

“Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes – Prayin’.

I played this record In Maastricht at one of my first ever gigs, the song touched the crowd from the start and there was such a magical vibe. It also brings me back to the place where I found this record. I found the record at a flee market in Paris last May. The French really love to boogie, I’ve found so much beautiful music in Paris. “

Favourite record labels of all time?

“I really love ‘Space Grapes Records’. The label is run by my friends Bobby van Putten and Danilo Plessow. My boyfriend Bob Roche is one of the composers of the records that are released on the label and he plays the bass. I’m so proud of him.

They’ve only released killer tunes and they play live even better. There are more good things coming up soon. Also Danilo has been really supportive towards my DJ career and I see him as a mentor.

I also love the record label Athens of the North, because they make expensive, unreachable music available for everyone. I also have two Chicago Boogie compilations from Star Creature that are permanently in my record bag.”

What is one of your favourite pieces of sleeve art and why?

Zulu Gang – Magic Feelings

“Because the band members looked so relaxed even though there are panthers everywhere on the cover.
It really represents the music so well, it’s joyful and uplifting. A piece of art!”

It’s a slothy sunday – what tune are you hanging out to?

“Roy Ayers – And Don’t You Say No

(goes well with a cup of tea and a warm blanket).”

When digging, what are 2 things that draw you to a record?

“The artwork, it can be very basic or just really colourful. Also the title of a song can be very interesting.

I’ve noticed that songs with the title ‘Piece of Mind’ are usually great songs. So when I see that title I check the record to see if it’s something. “
