DIGGR: Where is your digging Mecca (city/country) and why?
CHRIS: " If you had asked me a few years back I'd say New York, I went to Amsterdam in 2019 as part of ADE, was blown away with the quality of record stores, and the diverse genres of music available to buy.
It definitely hit my wallet hard. Red Light Records, Waxwell, Rush Hour, Record Mania and Concerto were highlights!"
D: It's a slothy Sunday... What tune are you hanging out to?
C: "Has to be a Smooth or Latin Jazz LP, could be George Howard, Azar Lawrence, Azymuth, Lee Ritenour or David Sanborn, something to kick back and relax to."
D: Favourite Record Labels of all time?
C: "Salsoul, Prelude, Emergency (Disco/Boogie), Inner City, Milestone, Prestige (Jazz), King Street, Lumberjacks in Hell, Strictly Rhythm, Cajual, Shelter (House)."
D: Weirdest most quirky record buying memory?
C: "I have several, but this one is very random. A few years back I was putting some records into storage, as I was offloading them from the removal van, I saw someone observing, after a few mins they asked if I would like to look at some crates of records in storage, and would I like to buy any. I was expecting crates of commercial pop and classical.
It turned out to be mostly HEAT, I picked up Roy Ayers 'Chicago', Paul Jackson 'Black Octopus', Cheryl Glasgow 'Glued to the Spot', Sun Palace 'Rude Movements', and a couple of hundred other Disco, Boogie, Jazz related 12s and LPs for a fraction of their value, couldn't believe my luck!"
D: When digging, what are 2 of the things that draw you to a record?
C: "If it's an album that I don't know, the cover art will instantly catch my eye, and draw me in, then I'll look at the back of the cover, and read the supporting artists, if some of the great session players are present, then I'm going to buy it."
